Job Summary

Cheney Brothers is looking for hard-working, motivated individuals to join our transportation team.

Job Responsibilities/Requirements

  • Coordinate the movement, storage, and distribution of goods from suppliers to company distribution centers and processing plants.
  • Organize, implement, and monitor procedures to ensure that products are shipped safely, efficiently, on budget, and on time.
  • Collaborate with a member-owned team of transportation specialists to plan, implement, and control the tendering of loads, actively engaging in carrier development.
  • Develop and implement supply chain solutions that can be executed by the purchasing team to manage inbound transportation costs as planned.
  • Ensure the logistics process complies with all relevant regulations.
  • Apply excellent problem-solving skills to address challenges, working effectively under pressure to execute solutions.
  • Continuously manage processes to file and manage damage freight claims.
  • Maintain timely accuracy and updates to key customer freight rates.
  • Interact with multiple internal departments to resolve transportation and receiving issues.
  • Represent and protect company processes with all carriers engaged in the movement of company freight.
  • Two to three years of related work experience in logistics or supply chain management is required.
  • Demonstrated management skills, with experience working with a cross-functional team, are required.
  • Must have a service-oriented mindset, with the ability to motivate and inspire people.
  • Must be able to work effectively both in a team environment and independently, demonstrating initiative.
  • Requires excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with coworkers, customers, and external contacts.
  • Other duties as assigned.
